Day 7: Project Reflection and Back to School Night

Key Question: What do we notice about our video/slideshow?

Learning Experience/Formative Assessment: See/Think/Wonder card and completed video!

This lesson uses the See, Think, Wonder Thinking Routine.  If students aren’t familiar with this routine, you may want to first facilitate it with something that is familiar to them like the calendar or something you do on a daily basis. Our you can model “See, Think, Wonder” using a Read Aloud. Tell the students they will watch the video and think about what they SEE, what they THINK and what they WONDER.

After showing the children the video, have a quick discussion. Ask for one or two ideas for what children see, think and wonder. Then, give children sticky notes or notecards to reflect upon and record one (or more) things they see, think and wonder. Organize these on a chart and review at the end of the lesson.

Then, share your video with the families at Back To School Night! Before showing the video, talk to the guests about the learning process the children engaged in to create the video they are about to see.  Be sure to articulate the different ways the children contributed to the video/slideshow. If children are there, you have the option of having children introduce the project, or talk about the learning process. If you have time, this could be an additional part of the product.
